To promote rural healthcare projects around the state, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) has granted $10.7 million in grant funds. Funds will be distributed to 38 organizations in Tennessee starting July 1st, 2025, to support the growth of healthcare workforces in all rural counties in the state. This funding will be used by local partners through the Rural Healthcare Initiatives Program to support 51 health-related jobs in 91 of Tennessee’s 95 counties that are not classified as metropolitan regions. By utilizing current training programs and expanding apprenticeship possibilities, this effort seeks to increase the number of healthcare workers in the state. By ensuring that rural regions have access to qualified healthcare professionals, this workforce development initiative will enhance the availability and quality of care throughout the state. TDLWD is still dedicated to helping local initiatives that improve training and increase job prospects in rural Tennessee through the Rural Workforce Initiatives. Governor Bill Lee has included a second year of funding for the program in his proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025–2026 to guarantee the continuance of this crucial aspect of rural workforce development. You can see a list of grantees and the counties they serve at tn.gov.
