Recently filed court records charge a Tuscumbia man with theft of property and home repair fraud. On September 4th, 2024, a homeowner of Killen allegedly contracted with 28-year-old Calvin Chase Pennington for home repairs, but Pennington failed to complete the task as agreed. According to documents, Pennington never gave a refund after accepting a $3,000 deposit for the components needed to replace the victim’s deck. On October 21st, 2024, the victim called the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office to report the event and to report that they had been unable to get in touch with Pennington. Both of Pennington’s provided contact numbers were disconnected, according to the sergeant who looked into the issue. Both attempts to contact Pennington via an ex-girlfriend and to find him at his reported address were unsuccessful. Pennington was taken into custody on Monday, February 17th afternoon for both offenses, to the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
