Certain things you may buy to deal with severe weather are exempt from state sales or use tax during Alabama’s annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday. Alabama’s 14th severe weather preparedness sales tax holiday begins on Friday, February 21st, and ends on Sunday, February 23rd. Under the same terms, conditions, and definitions as the state sales tax holiday, a county or municipality may exempt covered items from county or municipal sales or use taxes during the same period by adopting a resolution or ordinance at least 30 days before the last full weekend in February. You can visit www.ema.alabama.gov to view the list of items and counties participating that will be covered by the holiday in Alabama.
