Nicole Miller, Founder and Coordinator of Grace House visited the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club on Friday, February 14th, 2025. Grace House (GH) is a project initially undertaken by the Lawrence County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (LCSAP) that has become an independent 501c3 non-profit to help children who are entering foster care, their DCS caseworkers, and foster families. According to Nicole, Lawrence County has more children in foster care than any other county in southern South-Central Tennessee and these children often enter the system with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Grace House provides a temporary place to stay plus vital items such as clothing, toothbrushes, and comforting personal items for children who have been referred to DCS. Staffed by volunteers, GH has hosted 120 visitors, provided 2600 individual dinners, and served 800 children and families through the Grace House Closet. GH can house up to six people at any one time and is raising funds to purchase or otherwise obtain a larger home. A nice video on Grace House may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1157180385301931. Rotarian Olivia White introduced the program.
