The City of Columbia is thrilled to announce the return of Columbia 101, an engaging program that links citizens to community resources and local government. Applications are currently being accepted for Columbia 101’s second iteration, which will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, and Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, after a successful initial session in the fall of 2024. By providing a behind-the-scenes look at city operations, Columbia 101 aims to inform and involve participants in the processes of local government. Participants will begin each morning in City Hall, visit with representatives from all twelve city departments, and take a tour of a few municipal buildings, including the Public Works and Police Departments, over two days. Applications for Columbia 101 are being accepted until 4:00 PM on Friday, March 14th. The twice-yearly program is open to all residents of Maury County and the City of Columbia. All selected applicants must pay a $25 program fee, which supports expenses such as transportation and meals. City Manager Tony Massey states, “Providing opportunities for residents to engage with their local government is a priority for the City of Columbia. Columbia 101 is an excellent way for citizens to gain firsthand knowledge about city services and become more involved in their community.”
