Happy Presidents Day from WLX! Did you know, that Presidents Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February thanks to the 1968 Uniform Monday Holiday Act? The holiday was established in 1885 in honor of the first President George Washington’s birthday. Washington’s birthday is actually on the 22nd and this year would be his 291st birthday! He took his oath of office as the first President of the United States on April 30, 1789. Keep in mind many government and city offices will be closed today in observance of the holiday.
