With great pleasure, Lewis County Government announces the addition of two full-time Recycling Trailers to the County parking lot adjacent to the Public Library and Courthouse! To give homeowners more freedom to recycle whenever it is most convenient for them, both trailers will be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. While Trailer Two is exclusively for aluminum cans, #1 and #2 plastics, and clear milk jugs, Trailer One is just for cardboard products. The County kindly asks the public to abide by the regulations and only put the proper materials in the authorized Recycling Trailers so that these trailers remain available. Surveillance cameras have been installed to help prevent the misuse of this public service, and it is completely forbidden to put trash or other items in the trailers. Cardboard, aluminum, glass, metal, electronics, oil, paper, tires, and some plastics will still be accepted and recycled at the Lewis County Transfer Station, which is located at 641 Waynesboro Highway. The Transfer Station is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please give (931) 796-6058 a call to learn more about Lewis County’s recycling program.
