State Representative, Clay Doggett, has been Reappointed

On January 16th, House Speaker Cameron Sexton, a Republican from Crossville, reappointed State Representative Clay Doggett, a Republican from Pulaski, to the position of chairman of the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee for the 114th Tennessee General Assembly. As a branch of the House Judiciary Committee, which is responsible for overseeing laws of courts, judicial proceedings, civil procedure, private and governmental civil responsibility, and criminal law—including procedure, offenses, penalties, and sentencing—is the nine-member Criminal Justice Subcommittee. Doggett will be chairing the Criminal Justice Subcommittee for the third time. Doggett, a former Giles County law enforcement officer and small business owner, has served as the representative for District 70 in the House of Representatives since 2019. Doggett will also be a member of the Judiciary Committee, the Children and Family Affairs Subcommittee, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, and the Private Acts Committee during the 114th General Assembly. “One of the most important functions of government is to provide public safety to citizens,” Doggett said. “Republicans in the General Assembly have worked tirelessly to make our criminal justice system more efficient, transparent, and accountable. I’m grateful to Speaker Sexton for his confidence in me, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to find ways to keep all Tennesseans safe”. Speaker Sexton appointed committees to conclude the 114th General Assembly’s organizational meeting, which was formally called on January 14th. State Representative Clay Doggett represents House District 70, which includes Giles and part of Lawrence and Lincoln counties.
