After a grand jury indictment on counts of sexually abusing a child under the age of twelve, a Sheffield man was taken into custody. The indictment was handed out by a Colbert County grand jury, and on Monday, February 10th, Jerry Wayne Brackin, 58, was arrested. The inquiry started on October 3rd, 2024, when the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) notified authorities about claims involving a victim who was seven years old, according to Sheffield Police. After the inquiry, Brackin was indicted after the case was brought before the grand jury. Brackin is presently being held on a $30,000 bond at the Colbert County Jail. Circuit Judge Mitch Hays is scheduled to arraign Brackin on March 20th, at 9:00 AM.
