Hulen W. “Hootie” Dickey, age 83, of
Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away peacefully at
his home on February 2 nd , 2025. Hulen was
born on June 7 th , 1941 to the late Vernon and
Barbara Jewell Dickey in Collinwood, TN. He
proudly served his country during the Vietnam
War within the United States Air Force. He
retired from the Lawrenceburg Power System
after working numerous years as a Lineman.
He had a deep love for the Lord, and was a
long time member of First Street Church of
Christ, before moving his membership to Salem
Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed
fishing, watching sports, and spending time with
his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his loving wife, Vernell Heard Dickey.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Russ
(Terry), Sharmon Dial (Soapy), and Stephen
Dickey (Deidre); 12 grandchildren; 17 great
grandchildren; brother, Jackie Dickey (Jean),
and sister, Betty Collins (Rip).
Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral
Home on Tuesday, February 4 th , 2025 from
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Service
will begin immediately following the visitation at
12:00 p.m. Brother Keith Barnett, Becca Sutton,
and Rusty Thrasher will be officiating.
Interment will be held at Deerfield Cemetery
with full Military Honors.
The family would like to extend deep gratitude
to the numerous members of the Heard Family,
and the staff of the Compassus Hospice group
for the loving care and attention shown to the
family during this difficult time.
