The Rules Governing the Commercial Use of Wildlife, Rules and Regulations for Fish Farming, Catch-Out Operations, Bait Dealers, and Rules Governing Equipment Required on Vessels and Navigation were all approved by the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Ray Bell Building hosted a one-day meeting where the approvals were made. The list of species that can be imported into Tennessee and sold in markets and grocery stores now includes walleye, striped bass, crappie, and hybrids. These species can be raised on commercial fish farms or commercially harvested outside Tennessee but cannot be taken from Tennessee waterways or marketed. Other modifications included the addition of a rule that forbids the importation of wild-caught catfish larger than 34 inches for use in catch-out operations and fish farming, as well as an update to the taxonomic names of fish species permitted for use in fish farming as a result of a recent modification by the American Fisheries Society. You can see more details on the updated and new rules and regulations on the TWRA website at www.tnwildlife.org.
