To assist Tennessee customers in avoiding the traps and tricks of identity thieves, TDCI’s Securities Division is promoting Identity Theft Awareness Week from January 27th to January 31st. During Identity Theft Awareness Week, customers should concentrate on strategies to strengthen their defenses against the increasing issue of identity theft. In its most recent Sentinel Report, the @FTC’s Sentinel Network placed Tennessee 16th for fraud, with identity theft ranking as the top complaint in 2023. Modern technology can be used as a weapon by identity thieves to carry out scams that can destroy a loved one’s finances and credit. Tennesseans must learn the warning signs of identity theft scams to protect themselves and their families from identity theft because it is so common and can have catastrophic consequences.
