On Wednesday, January 8th, a BOLO from the City of Lawrenceburg PD about a stolen vehicle was found on Red Hill Road by the alleged owner. The owner called stating he was following the man, Joshua Watkins, who had stolen his truck. After units arrived on the scene in action to stop the truck, the driver swerved around law enforcement continued towards Highway 64, and struck a patrol car at the front end. Now heading East Bound, police were on a pursuit to have the vehicle pulled over that only kept accelerating in speed. Continuing down Highway 64, Watkins began throwing multiple items out of the window with intent to strike the deputies behind him. The driver went to the exit of Loretto and Lawrenceburg and headed Southbound on Highway 43 while swerving into oncoming traffic and endangering the roadway. After making a turn onto Rabbit Trail Road, the driver attempted to swerve around an SUV heading Northbound and was unsuccessful. This caused the truck to overturn in a driveway landing sideways in the ditch. Police then blocked the exits for Watkins and requested for him to exit the vehicle, which he refused to do. Police then proceeded with force. Watkins was transported to Lawrence County Jail and was charged with 8 counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, driving on a suspended license, criminal littering, simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and felony evading.
