The 30th anniversary of Lawrence County Fire Rescue was commemorated in 2024. Fire and rescue services have been offered to Lawrence County residents and visitors since the organization’s founding in 1994 by trained volunteers. The staff has 15 stations spread throughout 13 areas. Every station offers fire and rescue services, including specialist services like water rescue, grain bin rescue, confined space, high and low-angle technical rescue, and land and water search and rescue services. Licensed emergency medical personnel from seven districts also respond to high-priority medical calls, helping EMS and providing life-saving treatment until EMS transport units can reach the site. Records from the Lawrence County Emergency Communications Center show that in 2024, the stations responded to 2,729 service requests. It is crucial to keep in mind that each of these responses most likely began with an emergency call to Lawrence County E-911 and that the staff most likely collaborated with the mutual aid partners from other counties and cities on many of these incidents. The most important asset is the members who countlessly put in the hours to ensure the safety for the community.
