Tennessee’s road safety advocate is the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO). To lower the number of impaired driving collisions, injuries, and fatalities, the THSO collaborates with local activists and law enforcement organizations around the state. Tennessee’s statewide campaign, Booze It & Lose It, aligns with the nationwide campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, run by the nationwide Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Driving under the influence (DUI), also known as driving while intoxicated (DWI), drunk driving, or impaired driving, is the crime of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, including prescription drugs. In Tennessee, the level of intoxication of a drunk driver is usually measured by the blood alcohol content (BAC), with a BAC of 0.08% defining the criminal offense. This New Years, stay safe and be mindful of those around you!
