A Russellville man was arrested on a new indictment in Colbert County on several drug charges. Russellville resident Destin Zane Kelly, 28, is charged with several drug-related offenses in Franklin and Colbert counties. According to court documents, Kelly was detained this week on a Colbert County indictment based on separate drug claims, even though he was already set to stand trial in February 2025 on Franklin County drug trafficking charges. A Colbert County grand jury indicted Kelly in November 2023 on two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled narcotic and fentanyl trafficking. According to the indictment, Kelly was found in possession of four grams or more of a concoction that contained methamphetamine, suboxone, and fentanyl. Judge Kyle Brown of the Colbert County Circuit Court set Kelly’s bond at $150,000 on Friday, December 27th, and set his arraignment date for January 28th, 2025. Kelly is still being held at the Colbert County Jail after being taken into jail on Sunday. He also faces many charges in Franklin County and has a criminal history. The outcome of the trials can have significant impact towards his future.
