Lewis County Receives $125,000 Recycling Equipment Grant

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) recently granted the Lewis County Government a $125,000 Recycling Equipment Grant. The State of Tennessee will pay 90% of the award, with the Solid Waste fund providing the necessary 10% local contribution. The funding will purchase a big commercial baler for the Transfer Station, greatly increasing the speed and effectiveness of the county’s cardboard recycling operation. The Lewis County Government would like to thank State Representative Jody Barret and State Senator Dr. Joey Hensley for their continued support of the county’s recycling efforts and the Recycling Equipment Grant in the General Assembly.
