Alton (Wayne) Jackson Obituary
Alton (Wayne) Jackson, age 76, of Lawrenceburg,TN passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL.

He was born January 24, 1948 in Sewanee, TN to J.T. and Mary Abigail Myers Jackson and was raised in Winchester, TN. He was a graduate of the University of TN at Knoxville where he majored in agriculture. He received a Master’s degree in Agronomy. It was there that he met his wife Linda and together they had three children. They married December 18, 1970. Wayne worked at FMC in West Memphis, Arkansas for several years. He was an agriculture extension agent and leader at the Lawrenceburg extension office for 23 years. He worked at CO-OP and was a certified crop advisor. He also worked at Franklin High School where he taught agriculture. He loved tractors, plants, traveling, cigars, football, bluegrass, RFD TV, country music, and reading Weed Science Journals. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Freemason. He was a member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church. Wayne was well respected and admired in the agricultural community. He attributed to making the Lawrence county farming community one of the more successful counties in the state, through his knowledge and expertise regarding farming operations and advising farmers. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Jackson of Lawrenceburg, TN; his children, Jennifer Jackson Sproles of Lawrenceburg, TN, Bradley (Hope) Jackson of Nashville, TN, and Kristin Jackson of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren, Madeline, Brooks, and Abby Kate Jackson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Friday, December 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Neal Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at Franklin Memorial Gardens, 188 Halfmoon Road, Winchester, TN 37398 on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The family suggests memorials be made to the Wayne Jackson Agricultural Scholarship Foundation; mail to Calvin Bryant at the local Agricultural office.
