Rogersville Man Set for Trial this Week for Murder Charge

This week, a man from Rogersville who is charged with murder will go on trial in Lauderdale County Circuit Court. Curtis James Sherrer, 25, is accused of murder in connection with the shooting death of Larry Wayne Simpson Jr., 37, of Rogersville, on December 15^th, 2021. According to authorities, the trial is scheduled to begin today, Wednesday, December 18^th. According to police, a botched drug deal is thought to be the cause of the shooting at Elk River Village Apartments.  Simpson was lying in the parking lot when Rogersville police arrived on the scene of the shooting. After being brought to North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, he passed away.
