Court Date Set for an Iron City Man in an Attempted Murder Trial

According to court documents, an attempted murder trial in Lauderdale County that was supposed to begin on Monday was moved this week to February 19th, 2025. Judge Will Powell of the Lauderdale County Circuit Court ruled that Larry Franklin Palmer, 74, of Iron City, Tennessee, met the requirements for a mental evaluation and that Powell would issue an order for the evaluation. Palmer is accused of being involved in the incident that injured Tim Shelton, 69, of Rogersville. Until the trial, Palmer is kept in house confinement. According to authorities, surveillance footage shows Shelton being struck by a truck that changed lanes in the parking lot. After that, it depicts a man with a gun, identified as Palmer, leaving. His trial is set for February 19th, 2025.
