Decatur Fire and Rescue Discovered a Deceased Vitim in House Fire

On Wednesday, December 11th, at approximately 3:45 PM, Decatur Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the 1600 block of Olive Street SE, Decatur, Alabama, for a residential fire. Upon arrival, crews found the home under heavy fire and smoke. After making entry, crews began extinguishing the fire and doing a primary search of the residence. During the search, a deceased victim was located in the room where the fire was believed to have started. The Alabama State Fire Marshals Division was called in to investigate. At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
