Center Point Fire and Rescue has had a great success with grants. Over the last 2 years, $127,000 was received in grants. This has allowed updates on equipment and new capabilities. Center Point Fire and Rescue is a 501c3 organization that allows them to apply for grants from businesses and private foundations. A $7,500 grant from Enbridge was used to purchase new radios, and a $500 grant from TVA “Dollars 4 Does” program. The department was also rewarded $46,000 from FEMA for a washer and dryer and a new skid unit. The Rescue Squad and Volunteer Fire Equipment and Training funds were also used to repair an air compressor that enables them to replenish the SCBA tanks ($56,000) and upgrade the air bags, which are used for rescue ($7500). The nearby departments are also able to utilize the washer/dryer and air compressor. These grants are very important to the small department and would like to extend their thanks for everyone’s continuous support.
