Multiple homes in Summertown were targeted over the weekend to mailbox vandalism. In the early hours of Saturday morning, a resident noticed a vehicle being suspicious. Shortly later that day, he noticed his mailbox was damaged. The replacement fees would cost about $200.00. At another residence that has now been a victim for the fourth time, the mailbox was damaged and vandalized. The resident stated he knew it was kids having fun but did not understand why he was being a constant target when neighbors mailboxes remained untouched. In Tennessee, mailbox vandalism is a Class B misdemeanor that can result in a sentence of at least 25 hours of community service. The consequences for vandalism in Tennessee can vary depending on the value of the damage.
