Applications for Federal Historic Preservation Fund Grants are being accepted by the State Historic Preservation Office, the Tennessee Historical Commission, from December 1, 2024, until February 1, 2025. 60% of the project spending are reimbursed by the grant program, and the grantee must match 40% of the project funding. To assist the preservation of historic and archeological treasures throughout the state, non-profits, towns, universities, and civic organizations received 21 matching grants totaling more than $800,000 from the Federal Historic Preservation Fund during the previous grant cycle. Projects that benefit the public are given priority during the selection process. Applications for grants will be divided into two groups: planning or restoration and survey. The former includes efforts to survey historic resources, nominate them to the National Register of Historic Places, or help local communities create preservation plans or design guidelines.
