Structure Fire in Lawrence County Results in Total Loss

A fire Monday afternoon on Pettus Street resulted in a total loss of the structure and most contents. Fire chief Jay Moore said that the call came in after 1 PM and was 50% engulfed when the firemen arrived. The home owner was working on a four-wheeler when the engine backfired, and apparently started the fire. Although the residents were home, no one was inside and no injuries occurred.
