Authorities have indicted a woman for manslaughter after claiming she had drugs and alcohol in her system when a deadly crash occurred in Colbert County. This month, Emma Claire Snipes, 25, of Tuscumbia, was charged by a Colbert County grand jury with the murder of Jimmie D. Smallwood, 76, of Tuscumbia. The car Smallwood was driving and the one Snipes was driving crashed on Alabama Highway 20 South of Muscle Shoals in November 2023, according to Alabama Troopers. At the scene, Smallwood was declared deceased. According to the indictment, a toxicology report showed that Snipes had THC, alcohol, and methamphetamine in her system. She was also moving at a relatively rapid speed. Snipes was arrested on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, and has been released on a $50,000 bond from Colbert County Jail.
