Fifth Pedestrian Struck in Muscle Shoals Area

A 55-year-old man has been confirmed by authorities as the fifth pedestrian fatality in the Muscle Shoals area this year. At Florence’s crossroads of Huntsville Road and Helton Drive, Ronnie Dell Weakley was struck by a vehicle that ultimately resulted in death. The driver of the vehicle that hit Weakley allegedly remained at the site to talk to police and no charges are being brought against him at this time. At 11:18 a.m. on Sunday, the Florence Police Department was notified of the occurrence. Eric Balentine, the Sheriff for Colbert County, would advise both runners and pedestrians to dress deliberately so that drivers can see them.
