On the gloomy evening of October 7th, a Loretto High School student was traveling down West Commerce Street when he spotted what he believed to be a person partially lying in the road. Christian Barth made the decision to stop and check if this person needed assistance even though a number of other automobiles were driving past. After attending a fundraiser at the Loretto Senior Citizens Club, Ima Howell was heading back to her car when she collapsed close to her vehicle. She was bleeding and unable to stand again, but she was conscious. Barth was able to run into the center and receive assistance after he stopped and recognized what was happening. Howell might have suffered more severe repercussions from her fall if Barth hadn’t acted heroically. The Loretto Senior Citizen Club named Christian Barth “Hero of the Month”.
