On Saturday, the North Alabama volleyball team secured their second consecutive trip to the ASUN tournament. Tristan Johnson became the most recent Lions coach to sign a new contract on Monday. According to the school, Johnson was given a two-year extension through the 2027 season with a 2028 option. Following UNA policy, financial terms were not revealed. This year, Johnson was expected to earn slightly over $74,000. During Josh Looney’s stint as athletic director, two-year extensions have been standard procedure. In October, Tony Pujol, the men’s basketball coach, agreed to a two-year extension. In August, beach volleyball coach Kaleb VanDePerre signed a contract extension until 2026, and softball coach Ashley Cozart signed one through 2028. Last November, soccer coach Chris Walker also agreed to a two-year contract.
