The Columbia Infrastructure and Greenspace Improvement Project in downtown Columbia has been successfully completed, and the City of Columbia is happy to report this. General Motors provided funding for this project through the GM on Main Street Grant, which was made possible by a collaboration with Columbia Main Street. General Motors gave five $50,000 awards earlier this year to local governments and charity groups, including the City of Columbia, that are close to GM operations. The downtown area is now safer and more aesthetically pleasing thanks to the upgrades. Development Services, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Tourism & Marketing were among the city departments that played crucial roles in the planning and execution of these upgrades, helping to make the project a success. Their cooperation with Columbia Main Street played a crucial role in making the idea a reality.
