Dorothy “Dot” Annette Orton of Pulaski, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. She was born in Lawrence County, TN on February 1st, 1939 and was 85 years old.
Dot was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of East Hill Church of Christ where she enjoyed bible studies and church activities. She was also a member of the Pulaski Gardening club and the Night Bloomers Gardening Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and canning. She was instrumental in seeing the needs and helping others in her community. Also, she was a vital part of the growth of Dr. Joel Orton’s optometry practice.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4th, 2024 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Sain officiating.
Burial will be held at Giles Memory Garden.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Lillian Woodard Pennington, brother, Leonard Pennington and sisters, Arbidene Foster and Marie Marshall
She is survived by,
Husband of 66 years, Joel Orton of Pulaski, TN
Daughter, Joanna McConnell of Murfreesboro, TN
Daughter, Lara (Bryan) Bowen of Nashville, TN
Grandchildren, Jessica and Andrew McConnell and Kyler and Callan Bowen
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Dorothy “Dot” Annette Orton.
