According to media sources “City of Columbia leaders are considering expanding short term rentals, opting to hear back from the community on how current residents feel about the proposal.”

Officials with the Planning and Zoning staff held a public forum to hear back from residents on policies they believe would benefit residents, property owners, and visitors. Such topics discussed included reasonable limits on the location of short-term rental units operating in Columbia; Fair, reasonable, and enforceable rules to protect the quiet enjoyment of neighboring residents and the community at large; Fair, reasonable, and enforceable rules to protect the safety of short-term rental unit occupants; and a predictable process of permitting and enforcement for STRs.
