Ethridge Leaders Discuss Sidewalk Project At Elementary School

Ethridge leaders have agreed to apply for a Safe Routes to School Grant that would provide for ADA compliant sidewalks from the front of Ethridge Elementary School to the street, as well as a safe crossing zone. The project would include new safety lighting in the crosswalk area.  City Manager Nathan Keeton explained that state leaders have encouraged them to apply for funding that would pay for the $300,000 project.  The city had been repaying a similar grant after realizing that the associated fees would not allow enough leftover funding to complete a project.  Keeton said the remaining portion of that grant would be eliminated in conjunction with the new project.
