Special Meeting to Fill the Position for Giles County Sheriff

All citizens are hereby notified that, on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., the Giles County Commission will hold a special called meeting to fill the position of Giles County Sheriff, and that an election will be held in accordance with TCA 5-1-104 and TCA 8-8-106. The election’s goal is to choose the Giles County Sheriff, who will take over the position left vacant by Mr. Kyle Helton. The qualifications needed to be a sheriff can be found by calling TCA 8-8-102. The announcement of the election, which will be decided by a majority vote of the Giles County Commission, is sent to all eligible citizens who wish to run for office and whose primary residence is within the boundaries of Giles County, with the exception of those who are prohibited by the Constitution and the laws of the State of Tennessee. In accordance with TCA 8-8-102(b)(3)(D), qualified candidates must be POST-certified. To give the Giles County Commission advance notice, anyone who wishes to be nominated for the Giles County Sheriff job must send a letter to the County Executive’s Office by Friday, November 8th at 12:00 p.m. P.O. Box 678, Pulaski, TN 38478 is the mailing address. This does not in any way exclude any Giles County resident from asking to have their name put forward from the courtroom gallery on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. for consideration; nevertheless, a county commissioner must make the nomination.
