Waire Found Guilty In 2021 Gillespie Murder

After standing trial in Lawrence County Circuit Court last week, Columbia resident Brandon Waire, age 40, was found guilty of second-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the April 2021 murder of Lawrenceburg resident Sharon Gillespie. Gillespie was shot in the parking lot of The Summit, then collapsed in the foyer. She was transported to nearby STRHS-Lawrenceburg, where she was later pronounced dead. A sentencing hearing for Waire will be held at a later date. A second suspect in the case, Columbia resident Victoria Cash, age 40, is next scheduled to appear in court for a motion hearing on October 24.
