The City of Columbia was Granted a Large Sum from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency

Following an initial announcement in May, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) has granted the City of Columbia $810,000 in funds from the HOME Grant Program. With the help of funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Columbia can assist low-income citizens in the restoration and maintenance of single-family houses. The goal of the HOME Grant Program is to encourage the maintenance of low-income households’ access to affordable housing. The City of Columbia intends to use these funds, based on the extent of repairs necessary for each qualified property, to help 8–13 homeowners complete much-needed home repairs. The main goal will be to ensure that, when the project is finished, every house that receives support complies with residential building code criteria.
