Man Charged for Shooting in Florence

A 28-year-old male from Florence was shot and killed on Paul E. Johnson Drive on Sunday night. A Lauderdale County man has been detained and charged with murder for this incident. DeKoven Melique Williams, 27, was taken into custody early on Tuesday morning. According to court records, Williams was detained and charged less than a month ago with violating a protective order in Lauderdale County, interfering with an emergency domestic violence call, and strangling or suffocating a victim of domestic abuse. On September 26th, he had been released on a $41,000 bond following his arrest on September 16th. In preparation for an Aniah’s Law hearing, Williams was booked into the Colbert County Jail without posting a bond.
