The Rural Health Association of Tennessee (RHA) has selected state representative Clay Doggett, a Republican from Pulaski, as the Rural Health Legislator of the Year. The honor is given to a state senator who has committed to advocating for rural Tennesseeans’ access to healthcare. Members of the RHA’s Legislative Policy Council select the award. Doggett was given the medal in recognition of his work in 2022 to obtain $1 million in state funds for grants to help put adult changing tables at nearby establishments, towns, and other public areas throughout Tennessee. Earlier this year, he also proposed legislation that doubled grant amounts to $10,000. Thus far, more than 40 adult-sized changing tables have been constructed statewide as a result of the campaign.
