Nettie Jane Waters Craig was born in Lawrenceburg, TN on February 5, 1934. She attended public schools in Lawrenceburg and Martin College in Pulaski. Nettie married James W. Collins, who later became the General Manager for the Lawrenceburg Power System. They had 3 children: James Wade, Jr., Edith Jane, William Earl (Bill), and Nettie fostered Peggy Tidwell Seneker. She later married Dr. Charles Craig, a local optometrist and they were married for 37 years. Nettie worked for Dr. James C. Hudgins, a family physician for 20 years and for Dr. Virgil Crowder, for another 15 years. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Nettie moved to Franklin, TN, to be closer to her children. She worked for several years as a volunteer at the Williamson Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Sybil Richardson Waters; her first husband, James W. Collins; and her second husband, Dr. Charles Craig.
She is survived by four children, James Wade Collins, Jr. (Jackie), Edith Jane Turner, William Earl “Bill” Collins (Kimpy), and Peggy Tidwell Seneker (Tim); eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Those serving as pallbearers are Wes Collins, Dave Collins, Brad Collins, Benjamin Collins, Peyton Collins, and Soren Roberts.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday, August 26, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Mimosa Cemetery at 1:15 PM Monday, August 26, 2024, with Bill Hopwood officiating.
