Saint Joseph Leaders Discuss Cost Increase for Water Taps

Saint Joseph City leaders discussed increasing the cost for water taps during their May meeting. City Manager Joan Nelson explained that the city has been losing money on water taps for some time. While the city charges $400 for a water tap inside the city limits, and $500 outside the city limits – the actual cost to the city is $682 per water tap, not including labor cost. Members of the city council have decided to conduct a local cost study to determine the cost in nearby municipalities and water districts.
