MAY CONTINUED TO A BE A BUSY MONTH FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY EMS. ACCORDING TO THEIR MONTLY SERVICE REPORT FOR THE MONTH. DURING THE MONTH OF MAY EMS HAD A TOTAL OF 535 REQUESTS AND A TOTAL OF 366 PATIENTS TRANSPORTED. EMS ALSO RESPONDED TO 59 PUBLIC ASSIST CALLS, HAD 49 REFUSAL OF TRANSPORT CALLS AND 15 FIRE STANDBY, LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE AND MUTAL AID REQUESTS. ALSO, DURING THE MONTH LAWRENCE COUNTY EMS CONTINUED THEIR PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS WITH 7 SEPARATE OUTREACH EVENTS INCLUDING 2 CAREER FAIRS AND CPR/FIRST AID TRAINING AT GALAXY ATHLETICS. DURING THE MONTH OF MAY, EMS RESPONDERS COMPLETED EDUCATION PROGRAMS ON ASSAULT VICTIM CARE AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING RELATED RESPONSES. ALSO, DURING THE MONTHS OF APRIL AND MAY, EMS RESPONDERS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE INDUSTRY SPECIFIC TRAINING BY HOSPICE STAFF MEMBERS TO BETTER PREPARE RESPONDERS WHEN RESPONDING TO HOSPICE PATIENTS.
