THE CITY OF FLORENCE FIRE RESCUE PLANS TO ADD A NEW PUMPER TRUCK TO IT’S FLEET. ACCORDING TO MEDIA SOURCES, THE CITY COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED A $655,400 CONTRACT WITH SUTPHEN CORP. TO BUILD THE TRUCK. THE PUMPER WILL REPLACE THE 17-YEAR-OLD ENGINE CURRENTLY HOUSED IN STATION 4. THE CURRENT PUMPER WILL BECOME PART OF THE DEPARTMENTS RESERVE FLEET SO IT MAY BE USED IN BACKUP. FIRE CHIEF JEFF PERKINS BELIEVES THE TRUCK WILL BE SEVERAL MONTHS IN THE MAKING BEFORE IT ARRIVES AT THE STATION.
