THE LAWRENCE COUNTY MAN FOUND GUILTY OF ATTEMPTED FIRST-DEGREE MURDER FOR THE ABUSE HE INFLICTED UPON HIS INFANT IN JANUARY OF 2019 WAS SENTENCED TODAY. JUDGE STEALL HARGROVE SENTENCED MICHAEL FISHER WITH THE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE SENTENCE OF 50 YEARS IN PRISON. FISHER WAS FOUND GUILTY BY A LINCOLN COUNTY JURY IN SEPTEMBER AFTER ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY GARY HOWELL PRESENTED EVIDENCE COLLECTED BY THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT. FISHER WAS ARRESTED IN 2019 AND CHARGED AFTER LAW ENFORCEMENT WERE NOTIFIED OF THE INFANT WHO HAD BEEN TAKEN TO SOUTHERN TENNESSEE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY AIR LIFTED TO VANDERBILT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL IN CRITICAL CONDITION. AN INVESTIGATION CONDUCTED BY DETECTIVES WITH THE LAWRENCEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT, REVEALED THAT THE INFANT HAD SUSTAINED MULTIPLE BROKEN BONES AND SEVERE INTERNAL INJURIES AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PHYSICAL ABUSE WAS CONDUCTED BY THE INFANT’S BIOLOGICAL FATHER. BROOKLYN TIDWELL, BABY ADDILYN’S BIOLOGICAL MOTHER, WAS ALSO CHARGED IN THE CASE FOR AGGRAVATED CHILD NEGLECT. HER TRIAL IS SET FOR LATER THIS YEAR.
