THE LAWRENCEBURG UTILITY SYSTEM BOARD OF DIRECTORS HELD ITS REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28.   PRIOR TO CONDUCTING NORMAL BUSINESS, THE BOARD WELCOMED WILL WISDOM AND KINLEY JONES WHO ARE JOINING L.U.S. IN ITS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.  DURING A DISCUSSON OF ROUTINE FINANCIAL MATTERS,  IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE WHOLESALE COST OF GAS HAS RISEN FROM FIFTY-ONE PERCENT TO EIGHTY-TWO PERCENT OF THE GAS DEPARTMENT’S OPERATING EXPENSE. THIS INCREASE WAS ANTICIPATED AND IS EXPECTED TO GO HIGHER.  THE BOARD ALSO DISCUSSED AND APPROVED A FOUR PERCENT INCREASE IN SEWER RATES WHICH WILL RAISE THE AVEREAGE RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER’S SEWER BILL BY ONE DOLLAR AND FIFTY CENTS.  THE LAST INCREASE WAS IMPLEMENTED IN TWENTY-SEVENTEEN AND THE NEW RATE WILL GO INTO EFFECT ON DECEMBER 1ST.

IN OTHER BUSINESS, THE BOARD APPROVED A TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR CONTRIBUTION TO THE CITY OF LAWRENCEBURG’S ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND.  SYSTEM MANAGER VIC PUSSER REPORTED THAT AN INCREASE IN THE T V A FUEL ADJUSTMENT CHARGE WILL INCREASE MONTHLY POWER BILLS FOR THE AVERAGE RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER BY UP TO NINE DOLLARS VERSUS THE MONTH OF OCTOBER..  HE ALSO DISCUSSED THE STATUS OF THE NEW NORTH SUBSTATION WHICH IS EXPECTED TO BECOME OPERATIONAL IN LATE JANUARY, THE STATUS OF GAS AND WATER A.M.I. METER INSTALLATIONS, AND OTHER PROJECTS. 

THE NEXT L. U. S. BOARD MEETING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY NOVEMBER 29 AT 5:00 PM.
