A LAWRENCE COUNTY MAN WAS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND AFTER EVADING LAW ENFORCEMENT DURING A TRAFFIC STOP. ACCORDING TO REPORTS, A DEPUTY WITH THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, WITNESSED A CORVETTE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON SUNDAY. THE VEHICLE WAS OBSERVED DOING OVER 100 MILES PER HOUR ON SPRINGER ROAD AND BLEW THROUGH A STOP SIGN ALMOST HITTING THE DEPUTY ON GAINES. THE DEPUTY INITIATED HIS LIGHTS AT WHICH TIME THE DRIVER PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE AND DID A COMPLETE 360 BURNOUT BEFORE DRIVING OFF. THE DEPUTY PURSUED THE VEHICLE DOWN AN ALLEY WAY, THEN WEST ON FIRST AVENUE THEN SOUTH ON NIXON BACK TOWARDS GAINES. THE DRIVER THEN TURNED WEST ON GEAINES AND NORTH ON LOCUST AND PROCEEDED TO DO 360S IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BEFORE DRIVING NORTH IN THE SOUTH BOND LANE. THE PURSUIT CONTINUED ON REMKE AND HANNON DRIVE AND ENDED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED ON MAHR. MARCUS ANTHONY JOHNSTON, 22, OF LAWRENCEBURG, WAS ARRESTED AND FACES CHARGES OF EVADING, VANDALISM, RECKLESS DRIVING AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT.
