EGLY ADVISED THAT MUCH OF THE CHAMBER’S TIME IS FOCUSED ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND RECRUITING NEW BUSINESSES FOR THE COMMUNITY. HE WENT ON TO SPEAK OF HOW LAWRENCE COUNTY HAS PLENTY OF UTILITIES AVAILABLE INCLUDING POWER, WATER, WASTE TREATMENT, AND DEVELOPING HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS. SEVERAL TRACTS OF LAND ARE AVAILABLE FOR NEW INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT AND THE CHAMBER IS ALSO WORKING TO DEVELOP ADDITIONAL LAND AVAILABILITY. EGLY MENTIONED THAT LAWRENCE COUNTY HAS A LARGE NUMBER OF WORKERS WHO COMMUTE TO JOBS OUTSIDE OF LAWRENCE COUNTY WHICH WILL PROVIDE A READY SUPPLY OF WORKERS FOR BUSINESSES THAT CHOOSE TO LOCATE IN THE COMMUNITY. THE CHAMBER ALSO WORKS WITH PROMOTION OF TOURISM, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING ITS LEADERSHIP LAWRENCE COUNTY PROGRAM, AND OTHER SERVICES FOR EXISTING BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY.
