No Serious Injuries Reported in Florence Fire

Firefighters in Florence battled a house fire at a home on Chilton Avenue Saturday afternoon.  Fire and smoke were visible when crews arrived on the scene.  Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and were able to extinguish it.   All of the residents made it out of the fire safely, however one did require treatment by EMS at the scene for a minor injury.  No firefighters were injured.  The cause of the […]

Saint Joseph Artifact & Collectables Show January 18

The Saint Joseph Artifact & Collectables Show will be held Saturday, Jan. 18.  Arrowheads and tools made by the early inhabitants of the Americas will be on display along with Civil War artifacts, bottles, coins, pocketknives, fossils, and other collectables.  Concessions will be available, and admission is free.  The show will be held at the Saint Joseph Civic Center on Spring Street, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Lauderdale Drug Task Force Makes Arrest

On Thursday, agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force searched a Trade Street home in Florence, seizing around 2,500 fentanyl pills with an estimated street value of $25,000.  Resident Corbin Daywen Timmons, age 24, was arrested on charges of trafficking fentanyl and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Officials report that Timmons had thrown the pills out of a window in an attempt to avoid arrest.
