A FOUR HOUR STAND OFF ENDED MONDAY IN FLORENCE WITH POLICE KILLING A SUSPECT WHO FLED INTO A WOODED AREA AFTER A MAN WAS FATALLY SHOT.  THE TIMES DAILY REPORTS, THE SUSPECT WAS SHOT AT APPROXIMATELY 3 PM. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WERE DISPATCHED AROUND 10:30 TO THE 400 BLOCK OF PLUM STREET.  UPON ARRIVAL A MALE SUBJECT WAS FOUND DEAD.  THE SUSPECT WAS IDENTIFIED AND LOCATED ON EAST LIMESTONE STREET WHERE THE MALE HAD RUN INTO A WOODS.  THE SWAT TEAM WAS CALLED IN TO NEGOTIATE WHICH ENDED WHEN HE STARTED SHOOTING AT THE OFFICERS. THE INCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE ALABAMA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. THE VICTIM, NATHAN BEVIS, WAS AN ACQUAINTANCE OF THE SUSPECT WHOSE IDENTITY HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
