THE LAWRENCE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION MONDAY EVENING.  THE MEETING BEGAN WITH RECOGNIZING TEACHER OF THE MONTH - JENNIFER SHORT OF SOUTH LAWRENCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SUPPORT STAFF OF THE MONTH - JESSICA FLORES OF DAVID CROCKETT ELEMENTARY AND RETIRED EDUCATOR OF THE MONTH - VICKIE BOSHEERS.  ALL CONSENT ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AS WHOLE AND APPROVED BEFORE DIRECTOR MCDANIEL PRESENTED THE BOARD WITH AN UPDATE IN WHICH HE HIGHLIGHTED LAWRENCE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL AND LORETTO HIGH SCHOOL WHO WERE RECENTLY RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR WELDING PROGRAMS AND SUMMERTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHO HAD A SPECIAL VISITOR MONDAY FROM A US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION DIGNITARY.  THE REQUEST FOR A FULL TIME SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST POSITION WAS APPROVED AND ALL FEDERAL BUDGET ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AS A WHOLE AND PASSED.  A BID FOR THE SUMMERTOWN HIGH SCHOOL AG BUILD WAS AWARDED TO FELLOWSHIP CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF 204,500 DOLLARS AND A BID WAS AWARDED TO SOUTHERLAND CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF 178,300 FOR A SEWER LINE REPAIR BID FOR LAWRENCE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL.  THE BOARD CHAIRMAN REMINDED LEADERS OF THE NEXT LIAISON MEETING WITH THE COUNTY ON DECEMBER 3RD AT 6 IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM OF THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER TO CONTINUE TO DISCUSS FUNDS FOR POSSIBLY A NEW SUMMERTOWN HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING AS WELL AS OTHER NEEDS.  THE BOARD WILL NOT MEET IN DECEMBER.  THE BOARD WILL MEET AGAIN IN REGULAR SESSION ON JANUARY 27TH AT 6:30.
