THE GILES COUNTY AGRI PARK COMMITTEE HAS RECOMMENDED A LEASE FOR A MILITARY READINESS GROUP TO USE THE PARK ON A LIMITED BASIS. MEDIA SOURCES REPORT THE FACILITY LOCATED ON HIGHWAY 31 SOUTH, ACROSS FROM DAN SPEER INDUSTRIAL PARK SOUTH, WOULD BE USED ONLY A FEW DAYS A YEAR FOR A TRAINING SITE BY A PRIVATE CONTRACTOR WHO WORKS WITH THE UNITED STATES MARINES. NO LIVE AMMUNITION WOULD BE USED IN THE TRAINING WHICH WOULD CONSIST OF MARINES PRACTICING HELICOPTER LANDINGS UNDER SIMULATED GUNFIRE.  THE CONTRACTOR HAS ASKED FOR A FIVE-YEAR CONTRACT AND PLANS TO APPROACH CITY OFFICIALS REGARDING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR THE SITE THAT IS IN THE CITY LIMITS.
